Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro and Neo Malaysia Price, Specs & Reviews

Last Month, Sony Ericsson had announced the Xperia Arc which comes with a sexy slim body with a massively improved display & imaging capabilities. Like the Xperia X10s we’ve seen before, Sony Ericsson has introduced more Android variants to join the arc in its 2011 line up with the Xperia pro and Xperia neo. The key difference from first look is that the pro comes with a QWERTY slider keyboard.

On earlier Sony Ericsson Xperias, one of the major gripes faced is the outdated Android versions that came pre-installed. Now it is worth noting that Sony Ericsson has finally bucked up by offering the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread on all of its devices this year. We hope Sony Ericsson will maintain this trend of staying up to date with future releases of Android OS, which is something they struggled badly last year.

Both Xperia pro and neo are rather identical as they both feature a 3.7″ scratch resistant FWVGA display with 854×480 resolution, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, 320MB of internal phone storage and bundled 8GB expandable microSD.

For multimedia usage, the Xperia pro and neo are feature packed just like its arc sibling. Both screens features Sony Mobile’s BRAVIA engine and the 8.1MP Camera comes with EXMOR R for better shots in low light condition. For video recording, both also supports 720p HD format. There’s also a VGA camera in the front for video chat or self-portrait shots. There’s also a HDMI output to share your content on the big screen.

Interesting to note is despite having built-in slider keyboard, the dimensions of the pro didn’t differ much from its neo counterpart with the pro thickness at 13.7mm vs the neo’s 13.0mm. However in terms of weight, the Pro is heavier by 14grams at 140g as compared to the neo’s 125g.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia neo will be available in Q1 while the Xperia pro in end Q2.
